A visit to the Dominican Republic to establish relationships, obtain clinical space, and meet with government and non-government agencies was completed in 2008. During the visit a partnership was established with the Fundacion Sociedad en Desarrollo Provincia Santo Domingo, Inc. The Fundacion has provided more than nineteen hospitals, clinics and community areas where nurses, student nurses and faculty members may deliver service.
Jose Rafael Mejia, President, and the staff at the foundation was most gracious and worked very hard to accommodate the visitors, and establish a collaborative relationship. The group was able to visit several of the clinical sites and the office of the Foundation. Many members of the Foundation staff attended the meeting and accompanied the visitors on the tours.
