WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

The International Nursing Education Consortium is a non- profit organization that works with nurses on four different levels. The emphasis is on undergraduate nursing education, where colleges and universities with nursing programs are encouraged to international curricula and allow student nurses to study abroad.  The model used by the organization has as it s second tier a provision for nurses studying at the graduate level to be able to complete a clinical practicum or do research with subjects in another country.  There is a volunteer program where registered professional nurses can elect to spend time sharing skills and expertise while learning a different culture. Then there is the continuing education arm of the organization where nurses may attend workshops and seminars to earn contact hours (See the outline below).

 

The program is a four tier program that include the following dimensions:

 

VOLUNTEERISM:
Designed to assist professional nurses from all areas of practice to experience nursing in a different culture. Volunteerism may be experienced as a single experience or with a group. Time frames will vary.

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Professional nurses may chose to earn continuing education hours through workshops or clinical practice outside of the United States. Continuing education hours will be approved by a Provider Unit in the United States.

 

MASTERS EDUCATION:
Professional nurses with a baccalaureate degree pursuing a master’s degree for advanced practice or other areas of nursing that require a masters degree or above may elect to complete clinical practice hours outside of the United States. Research projects may also be completed outside of the United States with Internal Board Review approval.

 

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY NURSING PROGRAMS:
Faculty may elect to internationalize the curriculum at their school or utilize a study abroad curriculum designed by the International Nursing Education Consortium. Undergraduates may participate in the program for credit or as a volunteer.

To provide the opportunity for nurses to study abroad in culturally diverse settings there by developing cultural competency and cultural sensitivity. The mission is accomplished through the encouragement of participation in educational endeavors for professional nurses and students in the educational process.
